The Fleet
photography, 18 x 24 cm, 2020 by jan shannon
Description
Shinnecock inlet on the shore of easter Iong island is home toe the commercial fishing fleet. When you are pre-dawn, you hear the sound of the motors warming up and the lines and nets checked as the seamen who are set to head out to the ocean and farm the deep blue waters.
This boat was leaving as the sun was rising catching a glimpse of the reflections and illuminating the boat. It is such a serene and tranquil sight. the soft sounds of the engine purring as it begins its forward journey slowing inching toward some destination unknown.
I often think, how we all can relate to stepping forward destination unknown.

The clouds moves in as the sun is setting. The diversity of light and dark is upon us.

Where Earth Meets Water
photography, 18. x 24. inches, 2020 by Jan Shannon
Description
The four elements of life coming together in a single moment, always amazes me. The water greets the earth with the most amazing sound as it rushes over the rocks and then recedes. All the while, the fire ball in the sky rises up and disperses the haze that fill the air. Moments in time we all things work in harmony.
